Hardfacing
is a metalworking process in which a coating of harder, tougher and corrosion/wear resistant material is deposited onto a base material. Hardfacing may be used to restore a worn-out surface or to increase the wear/corrosion resistivity of a new component.
Thermal spraying results in minimal thermal distortion of the base material and good process control. The products coated with hardfacing have shown significant improvement in the wear resistance effectively saving production costs. As a result, hardfacing has been adopted across many industries such as steel, aerospace, oil and gas, cement, mining, petrochemical, power among others.
