Laser Cutting & Fabrication
Laser cutting is a non-traditional machining method that works on the principle of an intensely focused, coherent stream of light (lasers) to cut through the material.
Laser welding, is a process to fuse material that utilizes a laser beam as the primary energy source to melt the materials being joined. With the input of high voltage, the laser beam (photons) through the use of mirrors and other apparatus is focused and directed towards the materials to be welded. This focused beam melts the material.
Laser welding is considered a high energy density beam process, and can be used to join thick materials with deep, narrow welds.
Advantages
- Low & Directed Heat Input, less Distortion and smaller HAZ (Heat Affected Zone)
- Spot, Seam or Scan Welding with/without Filler material
- High Aspect ratio (Depth/Kerf width)
- Hermetically sealed joints
- Dissimilar material welding
- Butt, Lap, T or novel joint designs up to 8mm weld depth
